How to apply glass mosaic tiles.
Glass mosaic tiles are widely used in home design for their small size and colourful designs.
The key to a successful glass mosaic installation is using the proper adhesive. Mix strong tile glue in the recommended proportions. When applying the tile glue to the wall with a plastering knife, be careful not to use too much. First apply the glue to the wall, then spread it evenly using a smooth plastering knife. The mixing of the mosaic adhesive slurry should be controlled based on weather conditions.
After spreading the glue, place the glass mosaic tiles according to the design using a plaster knife or putty shovel to ensure they are tight, or use a flat, thick wooden board and a rubber hammer to tap the tiles into place. Each small piece of glass mosaic should be secured with netting material so that the glue penetrates the grids for a secure hold.
Inspect the glass mosaic after a certain area has been tiled. Ensure that the gaps between the tiles are uniform and adjust them as necessary with a small tile shovel. Check for any gaps in the tiles and fill any that are found. Placing the glass mosaic is a time-consuming process that requires patience.
After the initial drying, start grouting. Prepare the required grout and use a plastering knife to apply it to the gaps in the glass mosaic. Scrape the caulk into the gap, taking care to work on no more than 2 square meters at a time. Make sure that all the joints are completely filled and that there is no excess residue. Within 20-25 minutes after grouting, gently wipe down the surface of the glass mosaic with a damp cloth.
